Why you need a system

One checklist, every release

Your distributor pays you for the recording. The songwriting side needs its own registrations, unless you've signed up for a separate publishing-admin service:

  • Your PRO (BMI, ASCAP or SESAC) for performance royalties
  • The MLC for US digital mechanicals
  • SoundExchange for digital radio play of your recordings, like satellite and web radio

Each one asks for slightly different details. Your titles, spellings, splits, IPI numbers and codes have to match across all of them. You have to do it on every release, and you need your co-writers' details to do it. The Release Registration Kit turns that into one checklist you can run every time.

Who it's for

Built for self-administered indies

  • Independent rappers, singers, producers and beatmakers in the US who release through a distributor and write or co-write their own songs
  • Artists with features and producers whose details you have to collect
  • Small indie label owners or managers handling a few artists without a publishing administrator

Not for: writers signed to a publisher, or catalogs big enough to need a paid admin service.

What's inside

FAQ

Questions

Do you register my songs for me?
No. This is a guide, not a registration service. We don't register anything, file anything, or collect money for you. You do every registration yourself, and the kit shows you how to stay organized while you do it.
Will this kit get me paid?
We can't promise that, and nobody honest can. Registering doesn't guarantee any payment. Whether you get paid, and how much, depends on your agreements, how your music is used, and each organization's rules. The kit helps you stay organized and keep track of what you've registered, where.
Is this a publishing deal? Do you take a cut?
No. You pay $29 one time. We don't become your publisher or administrator, and we never take a percentage of anything you earn.
What do I need to use it?
A Google account for the Google Sheets, Forms and Docs versions, or a spreadsheet app for the .xlsx version. You'll also want your distributor login, your song titles and ISRCs, and your co-writers' contact info.
I'm not with a PRO yet and don't have an IPI number. Can I still use it?
Yes. The Master Catalog and Intake Form have fields for both, so you can fill them in once you have them. To join a PRO, go to that organization's official website.
Does it work outside the US?
The kit covers US organizations. If you're outside the US, check with your local society.
How do I get it after I pay?
After PayPal confirms your payment, you'll get an email from promo@davilleradio.com with your private download link. The link also shows on the thank-you page in the browser you bought from. It works for 72 hours and allows up to 5 downloads. If anything goes wrong, email promo@davilleradio.com with your order number and we'll help.
Can I get a refund?
Because this is a digital download, all sales are final once the download is delivered. If your download is broken or never arrives, contact us at promo@davilleradio.com within 30 days of purchase and we'll send a working copy or refund you.
